Self-Confidence can seem so elusive. It appears that some people have tons of it to spare and some struggle to hold on to it and it slips through their fingers.
I’ve always been more in the latter category and have been fascinated by those in the first. How do they do it? How are they so easily able to walk in a room and command it with ease?
These mysteries have led me to love finding ways to boost confidence and help others feel good about themselves.
I’ve heard that self-confidence can build from the feeling that you have done something well and belief in your abilities. This is good to know, but how can we use this to build confidence?
We all have parts of our lives that we would have liked to have turned out differently. Thinking about these things can drag us down and lower our confidence. But, great news, we don’t have to stay there! I have an easy way out. In about 15 minutes you can be seeing a clear path away from the shadows of the past and to hope and confidence for a brighter future.
We all have the beautiful opportunity to re-write parts of life we don’t like. From the past, we can imagine how we could have done things differently and then use what you would have done differently as a guide for our future. Of course be careful not to get stuck in the past though. Move through your past experiences and see them as learning and then let them go.
We can also focus on the future and how amazing it could be. Use your imagination to dream as wildly as possible. Think of all of the wonderful things that could happen. Let the feeling of those wonderful things settle into your bones.
So here is the easy, life-changing, self-confidence building tool.
Write a letter to yourself about how awesome you are and the future you have planned for yourself.
It is super simple and can make a tremendous difference that you can feel right away and over time it can grow.
If fear creeps up, remind fear of your plans. “Thank you, Fear, for your opinion. I know you are trying to protect me, but I’ve got other plans. You can stay, but you’re going to have to change your outfit. I’ve got just the thing for you to wear, it is called courage.” Then read your letter again, until you can feel the peace in your heart.
